On November 22-23, 2025, organized by the Department of Microbiology of Tbilisi State Medical University and with the involvement of local and international partners, as part of the Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (November 17-23), an international conference on the topic is planned about the topic „Modern challenges and global health problems in microbiology.
The conference will discuss such topical issues as antimicrobial resistance, pandemic prevention and preparedness, bacteriophages as an alternative to antibiotics, and other modern challenges in microbiology.
Within the framework of the conference, reports will be presented by: representatives of the World Health Organization in Georgia, representatives of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, representatives of the Walter Reed Military Research Institute, and Georgian and foreign scientists from different countries. The guest of honor at the conference will be Robert Leo Skov, President of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, who will speak about antimicrobial resistance as a global challenge.
The conference is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Professor Tamaz Kereselidze, a prominent figure in the field of microbiology.
